The MOST powerful passport for 2018 has been revealed, with one country standing out as enabling more visa free travel than any other.
The Passport Index, produced annually by Henley Global, shows how many countries the holder can enter either without a visa or receiving a visa upon entry. Holding on to the title for the 5th year in a row, the German passport is officially the world’s most powerful, allowing visa free travel to 177 countries.
Coming in a close second was Singapore, whose citizens can travel visa-free to 176 countries. A number of countries are in joint 3rd place, with 175 countries welcoming passport holders from the UK, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, France, Italy, Norway and Japan.
The country whose passport rates least powerful is Afghanistan, with only 24 countries allowing entry. Making up the bottom 3 are Iraq (27 countries) and Syria (28 countries).
The study states: “As the world economy has become increasingly globalized, the need for greater visa-free access has grown steadily.”
