Antalya, the Turkish tourism capital, received almost 9 million overseas visitors for the year up to August 25th. According to the Antalya Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, some 8.66 million foreign passengers arrived into Antalya and Alanya- Gazipaşa airports in this period.
This figure is a year on year increase of 29% when compared to last year and around 7% higher than in the same period for 2014, which, to date, remains Antalya’s record year for tourism.
Given these latest figures, the Directorate announced that Antalya is expected to hit an all time tourism high for 2018, hosting around 14 million passengers by the year end.
It was also announced that the number of foreign air passengers arriving at Antalya and Alanya-Gazipaşa airports reached 6.9 million in the first seven months of this year, up 32% on the same period last year.
