EU Countries account for 44% of Turkish Property Owned by Foreigners
We recently reported that the number of foreign tourists visiting the Antalya province for the first 8 months of the year was around 7.5 million – back in July, Antalya Governor Mendered Tural set a year end target of 10 million visitors.
With just over 10 weeks of the year remaining, this target has almost been met – as of October 13, the number of foreign arrivals at Antyalya Airport was 9.6 million, representing a significant year on year increase of 63%.
In the first 13 days of October, there were 544.000 foreign arrivals, an average of rate of 41.846 per day – this compares with the 413.000 arrivals for the same period last year.
Top 5 countries arriving at Antalya in the year to date were Russia with 3 million arrivals, Germany (1.3 million), Ukraine (660.000), UK (305.000) and Kazakhstan (234.000).
These arrival numbers, however, do not account for those arriving at Alanya-Gazipaşa airport, Antaly^’s second airport located 45 km to the east of Alanya city centre. Whilst official arrival statistics are not yet available, we estimate that Alanya-Gazipaşa has welcomed around 600.000 passengers. If these are added to the mix, then the Governor’s year end target of 10.000.000 visitors will already have been surpassed.
