Turkey No. 1 in Additional Europe-wide Aircraft Movements in July
Turkish aircraft recorded a daily average of 283 new take off and landings in Europe during the month of July, according to Ahmet Arslan, Transport, Maritime and Communications Minister.
Arslan added that ‘whilst the international air transport sector had grown an average 5.6% per annum in the last decade, the growth in Turkey (over the same period) was 14%’.
Following on from Turkey in number of new daily movements, Germany ranked second with 238 new flights, followed by Spain and the UK with 224 and 187 respectively.
In the last 14 years, the number of active airports in Turkey has more than doubled, rising from 26 in 2003 to 55 in 2017.
