Turkish Tourism in the Ascendancy
The tourism business is set for recovery this year, according to TURSAB (Turkish Association of Travel Agencies).
” For the month of May, across Europe as a whole, tourist visitor numbers are up by between 5% – 30% compared to the same month last year. This year is going to be very fruitful in respect of incoming European visitors,” TÜRSAB’s Foreign Operations Representative Hüseyin Baraner said.
Baraner went on to emphasize the importance of promotion and marketing efforts for those in the tourism sector, especially hotels and other places of accommodation.
Speaking of tourism’s importance, Beraner described the industry as the “locomotive” of the Turkish economy, and indicated that the industry has become more mature and experienced. Prior to the downtown, the tourism business – both through direct and indirect revenues – accounted for more than 10% of all Turkish GDP.
TÜRSAB is an organization aimed at development of the travel agency profession and its role in the economy and tourism sectors.
